Obama-Biden gun-control proposals could include gun tracking, stronger mental health checks

A working group led by Vice President Joe Biden is considering more changes to gun laws than simply reinstating an expired ban on assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition, Philip Rucker of The Washington Post reports. The group is thinking about measures backed by "key law-enforcement leaders" that would require universal background checks, track movement and sale of weapons through a national database, strengthen mental health checks and increase penalties for carrying guns near schools or giving them to minors.

The working group is developing a plan to work around the National Rifle Association that could include support from Wal-Mart and other gun retailers for measures that would benefit their businesses, Rucker reports. The working group has also discussed measures that wouldn't need congressional approval and could be quickly implemented through executive order. Those measures include changes to federal mental-health programs and modernization of gun-tracking efforts by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, Rucker reports. (Read more)

And why is Eric Holder not in prison for Fast and Furious?

Look at the shelves in Walmart and your local farm retail. The ammo ilshelves are gutted. .22LR in the 500 round boxes are the first to go. People fear Washington. People fear the Obama administration is about to gut the Constitution. People are buyong and dont realy care what gun it is. The public is afraid the President will take away all firearms and 2A rights.

The public is afraid the government will take away the right to self protection.

I was brought up in a ranching family so firearms were a part of the upbringing. The problem today isn't guns, it's the society we live in. Just look at the "social media" everyone is involved in. From television to Facebook, Twitter, Your face my face, omg and lol. I was given a firearm at the age of 6. It taught me responsibility, respect and gave me the the ability to provide for and defend my family. I have never threatened ANYONE with a firearm ,nor will I, (unless you threaten us). To enact a law, that is redundant, upon me, (a law abiding citizen) is equivalent to tyranny, for which the second amendment was was written. The idiot that shot up the movie theater in Colorado? They are considering a "Plea deal?!!!!!" I guess the gun caused that end result too,,,,?!(HANG HIS ASS IN PUBLIC!!!) Lawyers, the judicial system, give the perpetrator more rights than the victims. I didn't do anything to have my rights to own a gun taken away by some wacko! As a matter of fact, you should be comforted that as a "good guy" I will be on guard with my concealed carry permit to defend you and yours from other idiots and I am professionally trained. Thanks for keeping an open mind about the possibility that real, responsible people own a gun! Steps need to be taken to put the criminals away, not guns taken away from your fellow citizens that obey the laws that already exist and have the right to "keep and bear arms"
