Day-long seminar at SNPA Traveling Campus in Richmond will examine energy issues in the South

The Southeastern United States is one of the most fertile fossil fuel sources in the country. Energy prices are going up. There is continued talk of oil self-sufficiency and “greener” ways to use coal. And there are proposals in the area for new nuclear power plants after 30 years without such development. These and other changes facing the region’s energy supply will be the subject of a seminar at the Southern Newspaper Publishers Association Traveling Campus in Richmond, Va., Dec. 4-6. The program on "Covering Energy Issues in the South" will be a full-day segment on Thursday, Dec. 6, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. There is no cost to attend any sessions at Traveling Campus programs.

The seminar is aimed at journalists who cover energy, business, the environment and government, this seminar will feature some of the nation’s most respected experts on energy. Topics will include the future of coal as an energy source and what can be done to reduce its environmental impact; nuclear power plants; the world oil supply; and strategies to address climate change issues. For more details on the program, the distinguished faculty and other programs at the Traveling Campus, go to the Rural Calendar, here.
