
Over half of the crops in Virginia, eastern West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware and south central Pennsylvania were lost in 2010 due to the stink bug's appetite for various fruit and vegetables according to farmers in those states, reports Alicia Roberts of the Charlotte Observer.
"It's where a small amount of damage has a pretty big economic impact," Jim Walgenbach told Roberts. He is a researcher at North Carolina State University's Mountain Horticultural Crops Research & Extension Center.
