Monday, Oct. 3, is deadline to apply to be a host newsroom for Report for America, which wants more rural newsrooms

Monday, Oct. 3, is the deadline to apply to become a host newsroom for Report for America, which is making an effort to get more of its reporting fellows into rural newsrooms. Apply here.

RFA says it screens "emerging journalists who meet your needs," and pays half their salary, up to $25,000. It says it will match up to $30,000 for "very experienced journalists" and can help raise the local match. "You make the final reporter selection. And they work for you while receiving ongoing training and support from us," RFA says. "Not only do you get the opportunity to add a passionate beat reporter to your staff to cover under-covered issues, we help you fund the position. Through our partnership, your newsroom will ultimately expand and grow."

More information about the program can be found here. The RFA recruitment team is available to answer questions at recruitment@reporforamerica.org. Virtual information sessions will be available until the application deadline. If you know someone who may be interested in Report for America please fill out the RFA inquiry and referral form here.
