The Energy Information Administration reports that U.S. ethanol production was down in September while imports, "largely from Brazil, increased," writes Janie Gabbett of MeatingPlace.
"EIA said the 806.3 million gallons produced in September, or 640,000 barrels per day, was a slight decline from August but an increase of nearly 200,000 barrels per day from a year ago," Gabbett wites. "The slight reduction in ethanol production in September reflects some of the economic difficulty ethanol producers have experienced as a result of higher input costs, lower ethanol values and the evaporation of credit in the market."
