The U.S. Department of Education will announce the design of the 2011 Investing In Innovation (i3) grant competition at 1 p.m. EDT Friday. A press conference call for rural journalists has been scheduled for reporters to speak with Assistant Deputy Secretary Jim Shelton, who oversees the competition, to discuss its potential for rural schools, their partners, and communities.
