Number of adult smokers keeps declining

Fewer U.S. adults are smoking and daily smokers are smoking fewer cigarettes, according to a new report by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The report shows the number of smokers declined from 20.9 percent in 2005 to 19.3 percent in 2010. The percentage of U.S. adults smoking nine or fewer cigarettes per day increased to 21.8 percent in 2010 from 16.4 percent in 2005 and the number smoking 30 or more cigarettes per day fell to 8.3 percent in 2010 from 12.7 percent in 2005.
