National Rural Assembly convenes in St. Paul

The National Rural Assembly began today in St. Paul, Minn., and will continue until Thursday. The Rural Blog had planned to be there, but an extension of a critical fund-raising deadline prevented our attendance. Next year, we promise! But the Daily Yonder is there, and co-editor Bill Bishop has already posted items about local leadership, technology and transportation.

Yonder writer Alex Bloedel passed along these words from keynoter Dee Davis, right, president of the Center for Rural Strategies: “This is an urgent time. A lot of you know that we’re facing some pretty tough issues, and what happens in the next few months is really going to determine what American life is going to be like in the cities and in the country for probably decades to come.” (Read more)
