Alabama, Iowa, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Texas, West Virginia and Wisconsin are the top 10 states with federally funded local food projects, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture's state-by-state "Made in Rural America" report released on Tuesday. USDA has invested more than $800 million in 29,100 local and regional food business and infrastructure projects in rural America over the past six years, with local food sales topping $11.7 billion in 2014, according to industry estimates, reports USDA. (Read more)
